It's hard to see the design here. I cast on 52 stitches to create some negative ease so that you can see the lacy holes when they're worn.
I'd forgotten all about this short row heel:
The Schachenmayr Nomatta pattern books call it the short row and double stitch heel. Lana Grossa calls it the Jojo-Heel. You can find the instructions on the Lana Grossa website. It knits up with fewer holes than with any other instructions I've followed. Just make sure you pull the stitches really tight as instructed. I think mine will be tighter as I make more.
I'm knitting them on US1 Addis. They're taking some getting used to. They're slick and hard to grip. I love the joins, which are better than any other circs I've ever used.
Now I have to leave some work for the flight tomorrow. And maybe download some Audiobooks.
Love the socks and the color you picked. I'm working with the same pattern now - really fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to that pattern, your socks are looking great!
ReplyDeleteAnastasia is very pretty. Thanks for the link to the pattern
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks so much again for the comment you left on cableing without cable needle. It's working well. I recommend it. Much faster. It's just a hurdle to get over leaving the stitches off the needle for a short time.
Have a great vacation
I really like the look of that heel. Have a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteVery cool heel! I really really can't wait to see your finished pair. So far, no one has sent me a photo of a finished pair, though it seems as though a lot of people have started the socks. It thrills me to no end to see them around!
ReplyDeleteI like that heel!! I think my next pair of socks might need it ... and rumor has it that some new Cherry Tree Hill might be coming in to Knit Happens in a week ... hmmmm ... my ideas are brewing! :)
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful, subdued colourway. gorgeous knitting
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about the heel..I'm off to try it out.
ReplyDeleteaah...i see why you like my new koigu colorway (which is p30469). i would ask about the CTH, but I know they are all fairly individual colorways now.
